Update: Addison Tx! Should I Continue?

Just completed 5 out of 6 shows at the Addison Improv in Tx. (One more tonight) The shows have been pretty great but the crowds have been light ,with the exception of second show last night which was almost at capacity. I'm doing at least 20 mins of new material right of the top of the show and while it's going well I can't help but wonder if people really want to see me do standup. I'm not feeling sorry for myself I'm actually just trying to be aware of what I'm doing. I guess I'm trying to figure out if this is what I should doing with my enormous talent :) When I watch people like Louis C.K. or Bill Burr I think they are doing exactly what they should be doing. They are connected to something that is connecting with their audiences that my standup isn't, and possibly never has done. I have been doing this for 21 years and while I think I'm a pretty funny guy I don't feel like I'm progressing. And I know that because people aren't dying to come hear what I have to say next. And I turn my material over pretty quickly. So maybe I'm not saying anything anyone really needs to hear. So what I propose is this: Clearly I've got some dates coming up but I think if I don't see or feel a shift in what I'm doing I may have to just hang it up. But because I'm not a quitter I'm gonna give it another solid 6 months of trying harder than I ever have to improve it! So we'll see. I don't know why I'm telling you this other than you are my friend. Hopefully my shows in the upcoming months will be of the highest quality and who knows it will either be the beginning of something new or the end of something that needs to end. I do know I'm gonna try a lot of shit and it's gonna be really fun. G
